Extended Hours Surgeries
We offer a number of appointments early in the morning on a Wednesday and early evenings on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays. These have been introduced after feedback from patients to try and enable access to people who work long hours or commute.
These are for prebookable appointments only (not emergencies). You can book an appointment in the normal way.
We strive to have an appointment system that meets the needs of our patients.
-
Routine appointments with the Doctor of your choice - these appointments may be upto two to three weeks in advance
-
Same day appointments are available for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until the next routine appointment. If you need to be seen on the day you call, please bear in mind that the urgent appointment will be with a Doctor and not your usual GP and will be for the urgent problem only.
-
We will also be implementing telephone consultations and your doctor may ask you to book one of these when they next need to review your medication or to follow-up your progress if you have a long term medical problem. If your doctor does request that you book a telephone appointment, please ask the receptionist to arrange this for you on an appropriate date. Telephone appointments can also be offered to discuss abnormal test results or if you think that you may have a water infection. Please request this service when you contact the surgery; we will arrange for your GP to call you back.
-
Please note that a Telephone Appointment is not suitable for skin rashes, suspected chest infections or any other problem where your GP may need to examine you.
-
If you have a query about your hospital appointment, please discuss the details with a member of our administration team, you do not need to see your GP.
Surgeries are held at various times throughout the day, but please note that there is not a Doctor at the Health Centre at all times during the day.
Please note that patients who arrive late may not be seen, and may be asked to re-book for another day. If you are unable to keep a booked appointment, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can offer the appointment to someone else.
You are welcome to consult with any Doctor, but we do ask you to see the same Doctor for an ongoing problem in order to maintain continuity.
Should any patient feel that they would like a chaperone present during their examination then please ask the Doctor and this can be arranged.
Please note that appointments are ten minutes long and are for one person only. If you have several problems to discuss, please let the receptionist know so a longer appointment can be booked.
We are dedicated to giving our patients the help and advice they need when they are ill. Whilst we prefer our patients to come to surgery we know that this is not always possible and a visit to the home may be required.
As Doctors normally do Home Visits after morning surgery we would be grateful if you could telephone 01455 553531 to request a visit before 10.30am.
A Doctor may speak to you to assess the nature and urgency of the problem. This will enable the Doctors to assess whether a visit is the most appropriate management or whether it would be more appropriate for you to be seen in surgery as we have diagnostic equipment at the Health Centre which would not be available at home.
If you have had a test either at the surgery or at hospital you can phone for the result after 2pm.
Please note:
Blood tests - these can take up-to ten days to come back
Blood Pressure Readings - these should be available after a week
H. Pylori Breath tests - these take 2 weeks to be returned
Investigations in hospital - these take 2 weeks to be returned from hospital, but if they were requested by a Hospital consultant these results may not be returned to the surgery but be discussed with you at your outpatient appointment.
"Out of Hours" GP services are provided by Leicestershire County and Rutland PCT.
If you require medical help when the surgery is closed please telephone 0845 045 0411 or call 01455 553531 to be transferred. Either number will put you through to a trained member of NHS staff, who will arrange for a doctor or nurse to call you back to advise you on the best course of action for your particular problem.
If you need a doctor or nurse urgently you may be seen at one of the out of hours centres in the area -. Please note you must telephone either number above to arrange to be seen.
